Is NBN 250 actually worth it?
If you have FTTP or HFC and a house full of people downloading game patches, streaming 4K, or working from home at the same time, yes. A 50GB game update takes under 30 minutes instead of over two hours on NBN 50. But if your household mostly browses and streams Netflix on one screen, NBN 50 or 100 is plenty.
Can every house get NBN 250?
No. You need FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) or HFC (cable). If your place is on copper FTTN or FTTC, the lines physically cannot reach 250 Mbps. The good news: ordering an NBN 250 (or 100) plan through providers like Leaptel, Superloop, or Aussie Broadband usually qualifies you for a free upgrade to full FTTP fibre.
